Elanora Heights Community Preschool was established in 1966 as a not-for-profit, community-based preschool to provide an educational program for preschool aged children, 3 to 6 years. We are a co-operative preschool operating in the Elanora Heights Community Centre which was built by the community and is now owned and maintained by Northern Beaches Council. Generations of families have enrolled their children at Elanora Heights Community Preschool and we are proud to have many parents and grandparents now returning to preschool with their children and grandchildren.
Elanora Heights Community Preschool is licensed by the Department of Education for 40 children per day, 80 children per week and we are managed by a volunteer parent committee, in collaboration with the Director. Our preschool is open during NSW Department of Education school terms from Monday to Friday. We are closed during the NSW Department of Education school holidays.
Following Assessment by the Department of Education in 2019 we were rated as ‘EXCEEDING‘ in all seven areas of the National Quality Framework.
Our preschool warmly welcomes all members of the community with priority of access given to four year old children eligible to attend school the following year, children with additional needs, children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds and/or children at risk.
The children in our 3 Day Group attend preschool three days per week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; the children in our 2 Day Group attend two days per week on Thursday and Friday. Each group is divided chronologically with oldest children in the Koala Room, and the youngest in the Possum Room.
